THE UCKFIELD SINGERS ARE A GROUP FORMED FROM THE COMMUNITY FOR THE COMMUNITY, WE SING FOR PLEASURE, PERFORM FOR CHARITIES AND RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY.
Over the last 5 years we have held fundraising concerts in aid of Uckfield Hospital, Alma Stroke Club, Citizens Advice and the Volunteer Bureau; Holy Cross Church clock restoration fund; United Reformed Church together with Meningitis Trust; Punnetts Town new village hall fundraiser; Pete Mustin Forget-Me-Not Fund for Leukaemia Research, and most recently Circles Network - a local social club for young disabled adults. We have performed for the Uckfield Blind Club, at three Lions/Rotary Senior Xmas Citizens parties, Royal British Legion, and Framfield Monday Club. We were also invited to sing christmas carols at Sheffield Park Gardens. We sang on Luxford Field in the Uckfield Festival's Big Day Out 2011, recorded by Uckfield FM. Each year in July at the Civic Centre we hold a concert showcasing new songs learnt during the year. In September 2010 Wendy Wasels joined us as Music Director, and Kim Retallick as pianist.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are returned on 14 June 2010 to The Belmont Centre [next to Holy Cross church]. The acoustics are excellent. Come and make new friends and enjoy the warm social atmosphere. Singing is very therapeutic.

History of The Uckfield Singers
Started by Frances Brett, Joan Cottrell, Susan Daniel, ‘Tricia Dann, Carolyn Reed, Jeanne Russell and Linda Walton in March 2007. We advertised in Uckfield and the surrounding villages for singers to form a new community choir and 45 people came along to our very first rehearsal on Monday 5th March 2007. By the end of our first term we had 75 members, men and women of all abilities. At the time of writing we have had to cap membership at 83 due to rehearsal space and insurance. We aim to keep subscriptions as low as possible enabling everyone to join.
The First Concert
In just four months we held our first concert at the Civic Centre in July 2007, during The Uckfield Festival week. We had an audience of 260 and had to turn many more away. The Mayor and Councillors came along too and the evening was a terrific success. This has been repeated every July and forms our annual Summer Showcase concert.
